Topic: How to eat Healthy

Introduction:
Eating the different food groups in the correct portions will keep us healthy.
Foods of the different color are important to our diet.
Different age groups, boys and girls require different amounts of the different food groups such as grains, vegetables, fruits, milk and other calcium- rich foods, meats beans fish and nuts for a healthy diet.
In this lesson we will research the different food groups and look at the type of foods we are required to eat to live a healthy lifestyle.


Task:
1.Each group will research the different food groups on web site on Kids Health using the Food Guide Pyramid.
2.Each group will list the different colors and foods for each color from the Food Guide Pyramid
3.Each group will pick a color.
4.Each group with the specific color will research and record the amount of food for that particular color for the age groups-4-8 years and for girls 9-13 years, boys 9-13 years
5.Each group will record how many students from group eat that particular food group.
6.Students will then use the information to create a spreadsheet.
7.Students will collect information on the number of students for graph from each group.
8.Students will create a bar graph to show how many students from each group eat that particular food.



Process:
1. Open up a Micro Soft Excel document
2. In column A4 type color, in B4 type Foods, in C4- E4 type servings, in F 1-2 type How many eat food.
In A5 type orange, A6 green, A7 red, A8 yellow, A9 Blue, A10 purple.
In B5-B10 The different food are listed.
In C5-C10 The servings are listed for 4-8 years.
In D5-D10 The serving are listed for girls.
In E5-E10 The servings are listed for boys.
In F5-F10 No of students who eat that food.
3. Students will use the servings and create a bar graph.
4. Each group will make a presentation on the food color and group, telling how they got their information and how learning about eating healthy will affect their eating habits.
Show their project using a print out of what they did in the group.
